Treat Back Pain

Here Are a Few Healthy Habits to Prevent Back Pain

While back pain is probably unavoidable in today’s world, Revitalice® products can serve as one key component in developing a manageable and practical solution to this chronic and growing problem. However, there is much more that you can do to complement the benefits of ice therapy. “Revitalicing” alone is not all that you can or should do if you are serious about dealing with your pain.

How to reduce & prevent back pain

12 tips to help you fight or reduce annoying back pain.

Healthy Food

1. Maintain a healthy diet and weight.

This goes without saying and is often easier to say than it is to do. Consider programs like Whole30 (Whole30.com), which focuses on cleaning up your system of all toxins in your diet while enjoying eating better-tasting versions of your favorite foods, such as free-range steak and chicken. Obesity is a major cause of back pain as the spine is forced to support loads it was never intended to support. Every pound that you reduce can help.

Yoga

2. Remain active.

Take regular walks while maintaining proper posture. Work out at the gym or at home, paying extra attention to exercises that strengthen the back and neck areas.

Relaxing

3. Avoid prolonged inactivity or bed rest.

Get up, breathe deeply, and move around. As we get older, inactivity has a more immediate negative effect on our muscles. If you are middle-aged, muscle atrophy begins almost as soon as you stop being active. Prolonged periods of inactivity simply compound the problems of aging especially those related to back pain.

Proper Exercise

4. Warm up or stretch before exercising or doing other physical activities.

It goes without saying that as we get older, warming up and stretching becomes more and more important to avoid problems. Take five minutes in the morning to stretch each day then five minutes before any activity, such as gardening, going for a walk, or performing any lifting.

Proper Posture

5. Maintain proper posture.

As we get older and our muscle tone continues to slip, posture becomes even more important to avoid problems. Maintaining proper posture not only reduces the inherent strain on your back created by poor posture but also causes your back and neck muscles to work and stay vital. Slouching is the result of relaxing your support muscles, so keep them fit by maintaining proper posture.

Comfortable shoes

6. Wear comfortable, low-heeled shoes.

This goes especially for women. As we age, the need to reduce the strain created by high heels becomes more important in allowing our skeletal frame to have proper alignment from top to bottom and reduce stress points.

Proper sleep

7. Sleep on a Mattress of Medium Firmness

We sleep for at least 30% of the time we are alive, so why would we want to sleep in a curved position that places stress on our discs and spine caused as a result of having a soft mattress?

proper lifting

8. Lift with Your Knees

Keep objects close to your body, and do not twist when lifting. Proper lifting keeps the stress in your muscles and joints from being excessively high. When we create high stresses with incorrect lifting practices, our bodies respond with a tear, strain, disc displacement, and so on.

Healthy Habits

9. Quit Smoking

Smoking impairs blood flow, resulting in oxygen and nutrient deprivation to spinal tissues. There are no positive health benefits to be gained from smoking, only negative. Period.

Neck Pain

10. Good posture while working

If you work at a computer workstation, make sure you sit in an ergonomically correct position and that the computer keyboard and screen is at the correct height to reduce neck and lower back strain. Stand up frequently and stretch. Roll your shoulders in a circular motion and turn your neck slowly, 90 degrees from side to side.

proper exercise and hydration

11. Drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Maintaining proper hydration is very important in keeping the discs in your back supple.

Vitamins

12. Take vitamin supplements to maintain healthy body chemistry.

It goes without saying that maintaining proper levels of vitamin nutrition in our systems will keep us healthier.
